An Illinois-based pro-life group says ... that most -- not some -- abortions are unwanted or coerced, and many are forced.
The Elliot Institute has updated a study on forced abortion in America.
"We believe from the research and from anecdotal evidence that a lot of abortions, probably the majority of abortions in the United States, are unwanted or coerced in one way or another," she shares. "That could be from pregnancy discrimination [or] that could be from pressure. One study shows that 64 percent of women having abortions in the U.S. reported feeling pressured by others."
Well, if the study from a pro-life group and ANECDOTAL EVIDENCE says it, then it must be true! LOL!

Do you have any statistics on how many births in the US are unwanted or coerced? Or statistics on how many abortions are the result of unwanted, coerced pregnancies?

Or how many pregnancies are the result of unwanted or coerced unprotected intercourse...

Let me preface this with the disclosure that I am Pro Life.
American women are always saying that it is 'their' bodies. They say they have the right to do with them as they choose. Has anyone ever asked why they don't just keep their legs closed? Why haven't the chosen that? Rather, than be impregnated with an inconvenient, unwanted child.
When it comes time to have intercourse,( in the cases which aren't the product of rape or incest,) the clear onus is upon the responsible woman because it's "her body", then to use birth control or convince her male partner to use a reliable condom.
Has anyone ever asked why they don't just keep their legs closed?
That gets asked all the time, in theoretical situations like this. In reality, who could ask that question, and to what useful purpose?
"You can't have an abortion unless you kept your legs closed."
"Yeah, I did. And that happens to be one of my favorite sexual positions."
"Oh. Okay, then. Go right ahead. Next?"
See? It's a moot question in terms of the legality of abortion. So is "Were you raped?" because the next condition for allowing an abortion in that instance is the same: proving the rape actually happened. Considering that only a fraction of rapes are ever reported, and an even smaller fraction of reported rapes ever result in the rapist being convicted (months if not years after the fact) much too late to abort the product of the rape - why do you even suggest abortion as a result of rape should be "allowed"? The same with incest. You have to plan to "allow" every woman who says "I was raped/am 14 and carrying my grandfather's baby" to go right on ahead and have an abortion rather than waiting for the "justice system" to prove their accusations around the time they're potty training their rapist's baby.
In which case your arguments are doing absolutely nothing to decrease either the instances of abortion or the need for them and all I can do is call you out and demand that you admit what your true objection to abortion is. If you are, as you say, pro-life, then the circumstances of conception shouldn't matter and having an abortion because I was raped should be no different than having one after a round of toe-curling, window-rattling, condom-shredding sex.

What an absolutely idiotic article!! Totally biased and wrong to the nth degree! The so called Elliot Institute is on a mission to abolish a woman's right to an abortion. The article is filled with untruths.
This article is bogus.......

On the flip side, has anyone ever asked why the men couldn't keep it in their pants?

Thats how they cooerced them into unprotected sex . They threatened to not give them any if they had to wear a condom. Laugh if you want - it never happened to you?

How is that coercion? Were you that horny?
There's nothing in the article that convinces me that this was a disciplined, objective study. This feels too much like how if a guy takes a hit off a joint, drives five blocks and gets hit by a driver running a red light, it gets counted a drug related accident. Or in other words, I wonder what they count as "pressure". For instance, would a doctor telling a woman that her baby will not survive to term and letting her know that terminating the pregancy is an option, does that count as "pressure"?
There's just nothing of substance here.

I don't think you're correct to say the majority, but certainly a good percentage have abortions because their family or their boyfriend/husband treat them with outright hostility over being pregnant.
Remember -- on the right, one good bit of anecdotal evidence outweighs any mountain of objective data. If one woman claims (after the fact) that she was pressured into an abortion and is suffering guilt or other psychological issues, the right to legal abortion should be ended, Just In Case!. Obvious!
A few years back I cut off my long hair to get an acting role, and regretted it ever since as I haven't had the inclination to grow it out again past that painful half-way stage. Ergo,
- all haircuts should be illegal! Or, at least,
- all barber shops should provide counseling to assure that there is no coercion in one's pursuit of a legal trim. And
- let's add a three-day waiting period between scheduling an appointment and actually getting a trim. And perhaps
- see a video about how hair follicles produce hair, and the pain and suffering they endure when hair is cut. And also,
- before a cut, one should view an ultrasound of your living hair. And
- lets put up little crosses outside of barber shops, and
- harass employees and people coming in for a cut!

For one thing I am pro choice I don't want to restrict any access to abortion. I would like to see it happen less. I would like to see less women making a difficult choice if it's not really what they want. People do regret bad decisions. You shouldn't assume you know whats best for someone else even if you just talk them into a bad haircut .It sucks but it grows back if you are patient . Other decisions are bigger and more important and can't be undone. No I don't think the actions of prolife protesters are good in any way. They don't contribute at all to a woman feeling like her world is not so horrrible a place to bring a child into or empower her to take on the challenge of nurturing a new life. Which is more along the lines of the direction I feel they need to take.
I am old enough to have seen both sides of the abortion argument play out. One case I wanted to scream What where you thinking. She used a coat hanger to abort the baby herself. The other she had the boyfriend arrested for molesting her daughter from another marriage. The jerk was violent after he was charged with the crime. She was assaulted and forced to the bedroom one night. When she found out she was pregnant she was horrified at the thought of remembering his face every time she saw her child. My daughter was conceived when me and the mother were not together, on again off again relationship, I wanted the child and she did too. I was there throughout the pregnancy and birth. Me and the mother can't stand to be in the same room right now, and I am trying to get full custody of my little girl as right now. Her life is precious to me. The whole thing is I don't think I am smart enough to decide witch baby lives and which one is aborted. There is a line that I can agree is the right or wrong reason for abortion. The thing is it is an option that shouldn't be taken away from every women. But there should be more options available to go with any pregnancy. Counseling, adoption, and parental aid to name a few. They should be offered to every women the instant the get a positive on a pregnancy test.
