After reading the article, I noticed that all three women were Catholic! Perhaps it's the "every sperm is sacred" motto of the Catholic Church that is making them feel so guilty. Instead of "educating" women about the evils of abortion, they should be pro-contraceptive so it doesn't happen to other women.

I have to wonder IF any of the women that have carried a pregnancy to term ever wish they had an abortion instead? I would think if you look hard enough you can find anything.

Of course, but who would admit it? I feel sorry for these women who have been shamed and guilted into a life of constant regret.

There are the Dulcinea's of the world as well:

"I was born in a ditch by a mother who left me there, naked and cold and too hungry to cry. I never blamed her, I'm sure she left hoping - that I'd have the good sense to die."

weRdoomed, my mother did just that... of course I was the last of 6 unwanted children & abortion was illegal... her comment was always "I hate kids... makes me wish abortion had been legal". But my point was that if you look hard enough you can find any ancedotal evidence to support your claims.

Heck, I think even Bill Cosby had that thought go thru his mind once or twice......"I brought you into this world and I can take you out"!

weR......when is your baby due? I think I read that in a previous post......if not I apologize.....

Wait until he's 14, is 6" taller than you and outweighs you by 60lbs. ;-)

I do not take issue with the fact that these women are doing something that is meaningful to them to try to assuage the guilt that the Catholic Church burdens its members with.

But assuming that most or even a lot of women feel guilt and sorrow after having an abortion is ridiculous.

I know two women personally who have had abortions -- one a college roommate who had the abortion after the "morning after" pill failed

The other a mother of two who was married to an abusive husband and didn't want a 3rd child by him.

I am still friends with both and we have had discussions about their abortions to different degrees. Neither regrets it.

I know several women who have had abortions, not one of them, including me regrets their decision to have an abortion. My best friend, gave her baby up for adoption and she is a total basketcase on the anniversary of his birth, 30+ years later.

kj, that always amazes me. The ones that bring up the pain & regret that accompany abortion never admit the same feelings can occur for those that give the child up for adoption after birth. It seems like they would like people to believe that if you have an abortion you will soon reside in skid row, a druggie, prostitute or mental patient BUT if you carry the pregnancy to term & give the child away you will live in a beautiful castle surrounded by flowering meadows awaiting your white knight on a white steed to carry you away.

give the child away you will live in a beautiful castle surrounded by flowering meadows awaiting your white knight on a white steed to carry you away (to the bedroom where he will make mad passionate love to all day and night.....and you will get to enjoy it with regrets!)

nica, you forgot to finish your sentence.....hope you don't mind that I helped you out.....

You can finish my sentences anytime, kj. We tend to think alot alike, BUT did you mean "regrets or no regrets"? CUZ if I am enjoying it I will never regret it.
